The bloods rocked up to our home ground confident of putting on a big show against a lowly opposition team, however we had started to think otherwise as the senior group from Hawthorn rolled up to the ground. The Hawthorn team were a big unit with some absolute giants and we knew we’d be in for a physical match if nothing else.
The first quarter was an absolute belter, both teams going goal for goal in a rough and tumble term that produced some spot fires from a few players and number of sausage rolls at each end.
The second and third terms were all Aquinas with our midfield getting on top, our forwards converting almost everything and the backline repelling the opposition attacks with ease and in some cases the back pockets and flankers drifting forward for a goal. By three quarter time the game was over and a number of players had multiple goals to their names.
The last quarter was back to goal to goal stuff with the bloods attempting a few changes in positioning and trying a few different techniques with the lead in the bag.
Big props to ‘the hill’ for once again being the 19thman out there. Our biggest win and our best team effort over 4 quarters.
